I am an Associate Professor in Mechatronics at the Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway. I also hold an Honorary position in Biomedical Engineering at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Queensland, Australia, where I was based until Oct/2023. Before that, I was a tenured assistant professor at the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Brasilia, Brazil.

My research aims at developing and evaluating noninvasive rehabilitation technology, such as electrical stimulation, robotics, Virtual Reality (VR), and sensors, to promote functional recovery and independence of people with motor disabilities. With that purpose, I am involved in different research projects in which there is close collaboration with end-users, clinicians, and industry.
